Other Training & Experience
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)
I began using EFT in mid-2006, and have been using it with clients since late
2006. The training and education I have received all comes via DVD
instruction and book instruction provided by the creator of EFT, Gary Craig.
Gary Craig's training program contains many hours of instructional material on
DVD, and I watch it on a regular basis to keep my skills fresh.
Yoga & Meditation
I began practicing meditation in 1986, when I took a course
in Zen Meditation during college. I continue to practice Zen Meditation on
and off to this day. Since then, I have learned yoga in the traditional hatha method including Iyengar and Bikram methods. I also gained a great
deal of knowledge in this area through my experiences in flotation tanks and
with mind machines. I can now enter various trance states of consciousness
with ease, and can help guide others to heightened states of awareness, which I
incorporate in my Sound Healing,
Reiki and
Tantra sessions. I find meditation
and yoga to be excellent components in a complete alternative health regimen.
Healing Through Technology
I began experimenting with high tech devices used to stimulate and heal the
body and mind back in 1992. I became interested in the topic while reading
an issue of Omni Magazine, which mentioned a book titled Megabrain
by Michael Hutchison. After reading this book, I had the opportunity to use
several of the devices mentioned in his book, including: flotation tanks,
light/sound devices, the Graham Potentializer, biofeedback devices and binaural
sound devices. All of these had a profound effect upon me. I use a
light/sound device, binaural sound technology, and other techniques in my
Sound
Healing sessions, and I use a light/sound device as one method of inducing
hypnosis. Technology, though we don't often think of
alternative health and healing in this way, can also provide incredible power
for your health.
Empowerment Work
I began taking self-empowerment workshops back in 1998, and I still
participate in them from time to time. While these were mainly taken for
my own personal growth, I did learn a great many things about the way the mind
works, and the pitfalls many people stumble over in life, as well as how to
avoid such difficulties in life easily. I've taken workshops about how
humans are in their relationships, with their communities, as well as some
special workshops geared specifically to the issues of men and masculinity.
I have found these workshops and seminars to be an excellent compliment to the
alternative health techniques I learned in my certification courses. I use
many of the techniques I learned in these courses when doing
life coaching with clients.
General Semantics
I first learned of General Semantics
by reading the works of Robert
Anton Wilson, an unique author whose works I would recommend to anyone.
After reading his book Quantum Psychology, I felt compelled to
explore this area further. My reading led me to find that the work of
General Semantics has striking similarities with other alternative health
therapies like Neuro-Linguistic Programming,
hypnotherapy
and other forms of reprogramming our own subconscious. I use some
principles of General Semantics in my work, and plan to take some courses from
the Institute for General Semantics
in the future.
Tantra & Sacred Sexuality
Alternative health can also include alternative approaches to human sexuality
and sexual dysfunctions. This is where Tantra comes in to my practice. I became exposed to Tantra sometime around 1987, when I read about it the
first time in a few books. I had my first experiences of Tantra in 1998,
when I first became acquainted with people in the Los Angeles Tantra community. I
learned a great deal about Tantra from the people I've met here in Los Angeles,
and am always learning more through reading and sharing Tantra with others. I am planning to get
certifications in this area in the future.
Shamanism & Ritual
The earliest healers in the world were Shamans, yet this practice is
considered an alternative health practice in our modern society. I became interested in
Shamanism many years ago, when I first read
the works of Mircea Eliade back in 1985 during high school. I read
a great deal about Shamanism and shamanic practices, as well as the
practices of western forms of ritual Magick. I feel that the loss
of my job, and my calling to change careers and become a healer is my
own personal calling to become a Shaman. Over the last few years I
have encountered several Shamans of varying types and backgrounds, and
several of these people have imparted some divine wisdom to me. I
feel that my contact with them is part of my initiation as a Shaman.
I sometimes use principles of Shamanism and ritual in my work.
